Rewarding excellence and creativity

The annual Townsville City Council Arts Awards is a glamorous and entertaining evening recognising Townsville individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to our cultural life during the previous year. Award categories include Visual Arts, Writing, Theatre, Dance, Multi-Media, Music, Event of the Year, Production of the Year, and Limelight Award.
Criteria
Each nomination is assessed on the following criteria:
Excellence:
Nominee has achieved high levels of success and/or demonstrated excellence in their chosen art form.
Significant Contribution:
Nominee has made a significant contribution to the development of their chosen art form and/or affiliated art organisation(s) through innovative approaches and/or consistent effort.
Cultural Contribution:
Nominee has been integral to the development of new audiences and/or increasing the awareness or appreciation within the community of their chosen art form.
Community Contribution:
Inspiring or facilitating the sharing of skills and/or knowledge, thereby increasing the growth and/or quality of Townsville’s cultural life.
In 2009 The Limelight Award went to Dr. Linda Ashton from James Cook University.
